Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019: BJP To Contest 144 Seats, Shiv Sena 126, Says Reports
Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena have come to an agreement over the seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections 2019. Reportedly, Shiv Sena has accepted BJP’s offer of 126 seats. The BJP will now contest on 144 seats, while remaining 18 seats will be given other alliance partners. The ruling alliance sealed the seat-sharing pact during an internal meeting of the BJP where party chief Amit Shah, party's working president JP Nadda and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis were present. While Shiv Sena wanted an equal number of seats, the BJP was keen to contest more number of seats than its ally. Reports suggest that if the alliance comes back to power, the BJP will keep the CM's post, likely to be retained by Fadnavis, and will give the deputy CM post to Shiv Sena.
