Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to further extend the lockdown by two weeks. The Indian government has issued a list of red, orange and green zones based on the number of coronavirus cases in each district of the country. The zones will be based on case data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Based on this risk profiling, state governments and Union Territory administrations are expected to issue orders with regards to lifting certain movement restrictions or continuing with it. All of India’s major metropolitan cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai are in the red zone after May 3.
