Bahrain's Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa died on November 11. The royal palace announced on Twitter. Khalifa was one of the world’s longest-serving prime ministers, leading his island nation's government for decades. He had survived the 2011 Arab Spring protests that demanded his ouster over corruption allegations. Khalifa, who was 84, was receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic flown at half-mast. Meanwhile, government ministries and departments will be closed for three days from November 12. The burial ceremony will take place after the repatriation of the body, and the funeral will be limited to a specific number of relatives.
