Kerala HC Stays Order Of Liquor Sale Despite Physician's Prescription; 2 Die After Drinking Illicit Liquor In Raipur As Alcohol Remains Unavailable In Chhattisgarh

The Kerala High Court has put a stay order on Kerala government's order to allow sale of liquor to people suffering from Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome. The stay order will be applicable for a period of three weeks with immediate effect. The Bench admitted all the three petitions against the government order. Apart from this, Kerala HC also put a stay on Pinarayi Vijayan-led government order to allow doctors to give slips that could be used to obtain a pass for buying liquor to those suffering from Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome. The state has 265 active cases while two people have lost their lives. Meanwhile, two people died and one is in critical condition after consuming spirit in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
