On the eve of Republic Day, government of India announced the list of Padma award recipients of 2020. Many from the entertainment industry were conferred with the Padma Shri - country’s second-highest civilian award. Actor Kangana Ranaut, filmmaker Karan Johar, TV & film producer Ekta Kapoor and singer Adnan Sami are among 118 who have been conferred with the prestigious honour. The inclusion of singer-musician Adnan Sami has drawn criticism for the government with many questioning the grounds on which the singer has been awarded with the honour. Sami’s reply to his critics included a lot of sarcasm. Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill attacked the government for awarding Sami. The singer lashed out at the congress leader for his scathing reply.
