Irrfan Khan Dies At 53: Remembering His Battle With The Rare Cancer, His Excellent Performances

One of Indian cinema’s finest actor’s, Irrfan Khan passed away in Mumbai at 53. Irrfan was admitted in the ICU at Kokilaben hospital. The actor was admitted after his health deteriorated due to a colon infection.  A statement released by his family said that Irrfan spent his final hours "surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about. Irrfan Khan’s last film was Angrezi Medium co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan which released a little over a week before the lockdown was imposed in India. Irrfan has left behind some amazing performances which will keep reminding us about the great talent lost. In his career spanning over 30 years, Irrfan worked in several critically acclaimed films like Maqbool, Haasil, Paan Singh Tomar, Haider, The Lunchbox, Talvar and the Academy Award-nominated Salaam Bombay! Irrfan won the national award for Paan Singh Tomar and has won several other awards. His hit international projects include The Namesake, Life Of Pi, Inferno, The Namesake, Jurassic World, The Slumdog Millionaire among others. In 2011, Irrfan Khan was awarded the Padma Shri - India's fourth-highest civilian honour for his contribution to arts. As news of Irrfan’s demise came in, several names from the film industry, politicians, cricket world and others took to social media to mourn the untimely death. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Karan Johar, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled his death. Hearing about his death, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow expressed his condolences.
