Irrfan Khan Dies Aged 53, In Mumbai, Was Battling Rare Cancer
Actor Irrfan Khan (53) passes away in Mumbai. Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar penned a condolence note remembering the veteran actor. Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. The actor was admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) due to a colon infection. The news was confirmed by actor's spokesperson on April 28. ‘Yes it is true that Irrfan Khan is admitted to ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection,’ said the actor’s spokesperson. The 53-year-old actor's health suddenly deteriorated due to which he needed immediate medical care. Irrfan lost his mother, Saeeda Begum on April 26, and could not attend her funeral in Jaipur due to the nationwide lockdown. Irrfan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in March 2018 and shortly after that later, he left for London for his treatment. He returned to India in February 2019 and filmed Angrezi Medium during his short visit. He again flew to London to continue the treatment and returned after his surgery in September last year.
