India's Covid-19 Numbers: 3.6 Lakh Cases, 3,293 Deaths In 24 Hours; Maharashtra Records 895 Deaths & 66,358 Cases
India recorded 3,60,960 fresh cases & 3,293 deaths in the past 24 hours, both being the highest so far, reported The Times Of India. April 27 was also the seventh day in a row when India reported over 3 lakh cases & the eighth continuous day when deaths exceeded 2,000. A country-wise comparison shows that the USA has seen maximum Covid-19 deaths so far and the virus so far has killed 5.72 lakh people in that country. Brazil is the second with 3.92 lakh deaths while Mexico has seen 2.15 lakh Covid-19 related deaths. India’s death toll of 2,01,107 is the world’s fourth-worst. Maharashtra on April 27 reported 895 new Covid-19 linked deaths, of which 392 occurred in the past 48 hours & 179 last week. The state reported 66,358 new cases in 24 hours - a 36.6 per cent increase from April 25, when 48,700 cases were reported. Maharashtra now has over 6.72 lakh active Covid-19 cases, with Mumbai, Thane & Pune accounting for over a third of those. Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 381 deaths over the last 24 hours, the highest since Covid-19 reached the city last year. The number of fresh infections was 24,149, which took the number of active cases to 98,000. The positivity rate remained at 32.72 per cent. The numbers in Delhi have been inching down since the lockdown started in the city last week. Covid-19 had exploded in the city this month, reaching a 28,000-plus figure at one point.
