India Gives Nod To Moderna mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine, Cipla To Import Under Emergency Use
Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on June 29 granted permission to Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company Cipla to import Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine for restricted emergency use in India. Cipla had earlier sought the DCGI nod for import & marketing authorisation of Moderna jabs in the country. With Moderna’s approval, India now has four vaccines which have been granted emergency use authorisation, the other three being Covishield, Covaxin & Sputnik V.
Meanwhile, India administered 33.79 lakh vaccine doses till 7 pm on June 29. India’s Covid-19 coverage has crossed the landmark number of 33 crore. More than 9.19 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the age group of 18-44 so far, informed the Ministry of Health. At least 19.42 Lakh vaccine doses were administered to 18-44 age group for the first dose on June 29. Watch the video to know more.
