IHU Variant ‘B.1.640.2’ Of Coronavirus Has 46 Mutations, WHO Says ‘No Need To Worry Yet’

A new variant of the Coronavirus with 46 mutations and 37 deletions has been identified in France by the country’s Méditerranée Infection University Hospital Institute (IHU) in Marseilles. The variant tagged as B.1.640.2 has been temporarily dubbed as ‘IHU’ after the institute that identified it. The WHO said that the variant had been on their radar since a case showed up in November 2021. Since then 11 more cases have been identified of this variant.
