National Hindi Diwas is observed on September 14 annually to celebrate the essence of Hindi language. On this day, the central government organises various events and programmes highlighting the importance of Hindi as a language. On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India. Hindi is spoken by 250 million people as the original language.
