Actress-turned-politician Hema Malini faced severe backlash on social media for her comments on wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024. Reacting to her disqualification, Hema Malini stated that it served as a lesson for everyone. The BJP leader told PTI, “It is very surprising, and it feels strange that she was disqualified for being 100 gm overweight. It is important to keep the weight in check. It is a lesson for all of us. I wish she should lose that 100 gm quickly but she would not get an opportunity.” Hema Malini’s reaction invited strong criticism on social media, as netizens called her out for her insensitive comments.
