Gujarat Govt Imposes ‘Complete Curfew’ In Ahmedabad From Nov 20 Till Nov 23; Night Curfew To Continue Thereafter; Schools & Colleges To Remain Shut Post Nov 23
Ahmedabad city in Gujarat will go under “complete curfew” from the night of November 20 till the morning of November 23. Only shops selling milk & medicines will remain open. This comes in view of the steep surge in COVID-19 cases post Diwali. The decision came hours after Additional Chief Secretary, forest and environment Rajiv Kumar Gupta, who is in charge of the COVID-19 situation in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), announced an indefinite night curfew from November 20. The decision to impose the night curfew from 9 pm to 6 am indefinitely from November 20 was taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani & attended by Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and senior officials of the AMC on November 19. Gujarat government also decided to put on hold the reopening of schools & colleges from November 23. Ahmedabad city reported three deaths and 230 fresh cases of coronavirus on November 19, out of total 1,340 cases and seven deaths in the state. Till the morning of November 19, the city had 2,845 active cases with majority of these from the western parts of the city.
