Gujarat Accident: 15 Labourers Killed By Speeding Truck In Surat, 4-Month-Old Girl Survives; PM Narendra Modi Expresses Grief

In a tragic accident in Surat district, fifteen labourers, sleeping near the road, were crushed to death by a speeding truck on January 19. The incident took place near Kosamba village, around 60 km from Surat. The truck ran over them on the Kim-Mandvi road, police said. While 12 persons died on the spot, three of the eight injured died in a nearby hospital, police informed. Meanwhile, a 4-month-old baby girl survived the tragic accident. PM Narendra Modi expressed his condolences. PM Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF (Prime Minister's National Relief Fund). It would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the accident in Surat. Rs 50,000 each would be given to those injured. Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani further announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of the kin of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
