France: Protests Against Covid-19 Vaccine Health Pass Continue For Sixth Consecutive Weekend
Thousands of people protested on the streets of France again on the weekend against the government's Covid-19 vaccination policies. This Saturday’s protests were called for the sixth weekend in a row to denounce a "health pass" system announced by President Emmanuel Macron. Protesters say it is unfair to restrict the rights of the unvaccinated. The system was introduced progressively since mid-July. Under the system, anyone wishing to enter a restaurant, theatre, cinema, long-distance train, or large shopping centre must show proof of vaccination or a negative test. Reportedly, around 200 demonstrations were called across the country, with around 9,500 people in southern Montpellier, 4,000 in eastern Strasbourg & 3,400 in Bordeaux. At the head of the Paris march, people held up flags and banners with the word “Liberty” on them. People shouted “Macron! We don’t want your pass!” More than 47 million people in France have received at least one vaccine shot and more than 40.5 million are fully vaccinated. Watch the video to know more.
