Farmer Protests See Thousands At Mahapanchayat In Rajasthan, UP, Haryana; Will Hold It In All States, Says Rakesh Tikait

Over the past few days, Kisan Mahapanchayats have drawn massive turn out of farmers in different parts of Haryana, Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh while Punjab is already witnessing an intense farm stir. “The way meetings are taking place in Haryana, our next target will be Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu,” said BKU leader Rakesh Tikait. Addressing a "Kisan Mahapanchayat" at Gumthala Garhu village in Pehowa in Kurukshetra, a third within a week in Haryana, he said the government should not be under the wrong impression that the protesting farmers will return to their homes without their demands being accepted. Tikait urged farmers to be ready for a long battle even as thousands of farmers already camp at Delhi borders for the past 77 days. He criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Andolan-jivi" (professional protesters) remarks and asked if people like great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh will also be put in that category.
