Delhi To Open Schools For Class 10, 12 Students From Jan 18; COVID-19 Cases Dip In Capital City
All schools in Delhi have been allowed to reopen for students of classes 10 and 12 from January 18. Decision comes in view of the board exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that start on May 4. Though schools will keep a record of those who come, attendance will not be compulsory, the Delhi government said. Stating that even though most of the syllabus has been completed, a circular issued by the Directorate of Education, Delhi, add "schools are being reopened so "doubts and difficulties can be cleared by teachers" with the intention of promoting students' mental well-being. Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 357 new COVID-19 cases with 534 recoveries & 11 deaths on January 13. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on January 13 said he has appealed to the Central government that COVID-19 vaccination should be provided free of cost to all, adding the Delhi government would do it if Centre does not.
