Daily Wage Labourers Protest In Madurai’s Containment Zone For Lack Of Money To Buy Essentials

A protest was held by Daily wage labourers in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The incident took place at MGR street in Yagappa Nagar. MGR street was declared as COVID-19 containment zone and sealed. Labourers claimed they do not have money to buy essential commodities amid lockdown. The number of confirmed cases in Tamil Nadu has reached 1043 with 11 deaths. Lives of people working in the unorganised sector have been hit hard following the lockdown announcement.
