Cyclone Tauktae Landfall in Gujarat: Storm Weakens, Heavy Rain Warning In Place
Cyclone Tauktae made landfall in Gujarat’s Saurashtra district between Diu and Una around 9 pm. The process of landfall ended around 12 am on Tuesday – May 18, the India Meteorological Department said. Tauktae was downgraded from an “extremely severe cyclonic storm” to “very severe cyclonic storm” post midnight and is expected to gradually weaken into a severe cyclonic storm according to the IMD. Atleast 12 people have died over the past 24 hours due to the cyclone that formed over the Arabian Sea on May 14.
