Cyclone Nisarga Path Tracker: Expect Wind Speed Of 100 kmph; To Hit Maharashtra, Gujarat On June 3
The low-pressure area developing over the Arabian Sea is likely to intensify into a severe cyclone and cross north Maharashtra & south Gujarat coasts on the afternoon of June 3 as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). IMD also informed that cyclone Nisarga will have an impact on Mumbai when it crosses Maharashtra. As per the location by IMD, the cyclonic storm lies about 300 km southwest of Panjim in Goa, 550 km south-southwest of Mumbai in Maharashtra and 800 km south-southwest of Surat in Gujarat. On the morning of June 2, the depression is set to turn into a 'Cyclonic Storm' and move towards Gujarat. Later, it will turn into a 'Severe Cyclonic Storm' on the morning of June 3 following which, Nisarga will turn into a 'Severe Cyclonic Storm' on the morning of June 4. Thereafter, Nisarga will weaken into a 'Cyclonic Storm' on the same day (June 4) during the evening hours around 5.30 pm. National Disaster Response Force chief SN Pradhan told news agency ANI that they are expecting wind speeds up to 100 kmph. Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray through video conferencing and reviewed the state's preparedness. Parts of Gujarat including Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli will see heavy rainfall on June 3 and extremely heavy rainfall at a few places in Daman, Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and on June 4.
