Covid-19 Lockdown In States Across India: Maharashtra Extends Restrictions, Know About Other States

Several states announced a few relaxations while many have extended the Covid-19 lockdown measures in the country. The country saw the lowest daily rise in Covid-19 cases in 50 days with 1.52 lakh fresh infections. India has reported 3.29 lakh deaths since the pandemic broke; 3,218 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. Many states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra & Goa, have extended the restrictions, while some such as Delhi, Madhya Pradesh & Himachal Pradesh have announced relaxations. Covid-19 lockdown in Delhi has been extended for another week, the government announced on May 29. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced extension of the lockdown until June 15, explaining that the number of Covid-19 patients in the state remains high despite the declining number of fresh cases. The UP government decided to ease restrictions in 55 districts where active cases have dropped below 600. With the entire UT categorised under red or orange zones for Covid-19 containment, the administration on May 30 eased lockdown guidelines, allowing various activities subject to certain restrictions from May 31.
