Three months after the World Health Organisation announced a global health emergency, let us look at how countries in India’s immediate neighbourhood are fairing. While Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s COVID-19 test result has been found negative, the country has been criticised for its low-testing numbers and the government’s inability to impose social distancing norms in public spaces. Bangladesh announced a ban on people congregating to offer public prayers in the month of Ramazan 2020 while Sri Lanka has reported a relatively low number of cases.
