With the rising cases, complete lockdown (except essential services) has been imposed in 80 cities of the country. Full curfew has been ordered in Punjab and Maharashtra. Section 144 has been imposed in many places which means more than five people cannot come together. PM Narendra Modi also tweeted asking people to take the lockdown seriously and called on the state governments to ensure rules are followed. Those violating the ban can face punishment under Section 188, meaning jail for up to one month or a fine of Rs 200, or both. Punishment can go up to six months in jail or fine of up to Rs 1,000 if human lives or safety is put to risk. The government on March 22 announced that 75 districts in the country where coronavirus cases have been found will go under lockdown till March 31. Trains services have been suspended throughout the country. Metros services stand suspended. Inter-state buses also suspended.
