Coronavirus Claims 56 Lives In India, Confirmed Cases At 2301; Singapore Orders Month Long Lockdown
Confirmed Coronavirus cases in India now stand at 2301 with 56 dead. Six of these deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours itself along with 336 cases. Worldwide the number of COVID-19 positive cases has crossed 1 million, with over 50,000 dead. The World Bank approved US$1 billion in emergency financing for India to tackle the coronavirus outbreak as UN reports predict the pandemic will hit the global economy hard. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked his countrymen to light diyas, lamps, torches and/ or flashlights at 9pm on April 5.
