Resident doctors of India’s premier hospital AIIMS sought government’s intervention informing that their colleagues were facing eviction from their homes by their landlords. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, doctors wrote about the harassment being faced as landlords and housing society members fear the spread of COVID-19 infection through the healthcare workers. The Resident Doctors Association said many were junior doctors had been thrown out of their accommodation overnight and were stranded on the roads. They urged Shah to immediately release an order prohibiting landlords from evicting doctors and nurses from their rented apartments. Like medical professionals, those working in the airline industry too have also complained of harassment by neighbours. An airhostess with the airline Indigo spoke about being targeted by her neighbours over COVID-19 fears.
