Congress’s Sanjay Jha Tests COVID-19 Positive in Mumbai; Maharashtra Coronavirus Tally At 44,582

Congress Spokesperson Sanjay Jha has tested positive for coronavirus. Jha confirmed the news on May 22. Sanjay Jha, who is asymptomatic of the infection, is under home quarantine in Mumbai. India has recorded 6,654 new coronavirus cases during a 24-hour period starting 8 am on May 22. This was the biggest single-day spike since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The total now stands at 125101 cases with 69597 active cases. With 137 deaths reported in a single day, the total now stands at 3720. Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected with 44582 cases and 1517 deaths. 2940 cases were recorded in the state in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day rise in any state so far. 1751 new COVID19 positive cases, 27 deaths reported in Mumbai. The total positive cases rise to 27,068 in Mumbai. In Dharavi, which has emerged as one of the city hotspots, 53 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported. Total positive cases in the slum locality increase to 1,478 and the death toll increased to 57.
