An Unexpected Cloudburst Over North Sikkim's Lhonak Lake Caused The Teesta River's Water Levels To Suddenly Rise, Which In Turn Led To Flooding In The Region. The Situation Was Made Worse By The Chungthang Dam's Water Discharge, Which Caused The Water Level To Rise Up To 20 Feet. The Rushing Flood Waters Washed Away Indian Army Trucks That Were Parked In Bardang, Close To Singtam. 23 Indian Army Jawans Have Gone Missing. Search Efforts Are Being Made To Find The Missing Personnel. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Wrote On Twitter, “We Are All Aware Of The Recent Natural Calamity That Has Struck Our State. Emergency Services Have Been Mobilised To The Affected Areas, And I Personally Visited Singtam To Assess The Damages And Engage With The Local Community. I Humbly Urge All Our Citizens To Remain Vigilant And Refrain From Unnecessary Travel During This Critical Time.
