Christmas 2020: Pandemic Advisory To Celebrate Holidays; Midnight Mass Allowed In Karnataka; Maharashtra Allows 50 People At Christmas Mass, 10 In Choir
A few hours after Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announced a night curfew in the state beginning from 10 pm on December 23, the state government changed the timing & removed certain restrictions as well. While Yediyurappa had announced night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am from December 23, the state government said night curfew will be imposed from December 24 & the timing will be from 11 pm to 5 am.
The government later allowed special rituals such as midnight mass on Christmas during the night curfew. Meanwhile, apart from announcing night curfew till January 5, the Maharashtra Home Department has also issued several guidelines regarding Christmas celebrations in the state.
As per the guidelines, the Mass which is organised in local churches to mark the occasion of Christmas should not have more than 50 people at a time. With respect to church choirs, the Maharashtra government's guidelines state that no more than 10 people should be allowed in a single choir.
