‘China Took Pre-Meditated Action, Should Reassess Its Actions’: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar

On June 17, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi for the first time since the massive escalation in border hostilities. Chinese soldiers took "pre-meditated and planned action" that was directly responsible for June 15 clash at Ladakh's Galwan Valley, in which 20 Indian soldiers died, S Jaishankar Told Wang Yi in a phone conversation. Foreign Minister underlined that the unprecedented development "will have a serious impact on the bilateral relationship". Jaishankar added that China had to reassess its actions and take corrective steps. As per PTI, Wang said the two sides should follow the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. Both ministers signed off on a note of de-escalating tension. PM Narendra Modi said the sacrifice of the soldiers will not go in vain. PM Modi has called an all-party virtual meeting on June 19 to discuss the situation at the India-China border.
