Chennai: More Rains Predicted For Parts Of Tamil Nadu, Death Toll Rises Due To Floods

Several regions in Tamil Nadu have been witnessing heavy rainfall for the past few days. Normal life has been hit hard. On November 10, low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal concentrated into a depression. It is likely to cross the coast by November 11 evening. Non-stop rains have battered many regions in Tamil Nadu including Chennai and nearby Chengalpet, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Villupuram. The death toll in the state stands at 12. Power cuts have been reported at many places in Chennai. IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the state on November 11. At least 75,000 officers have been allocated for flood and rescue operations across Tamil Nadu. Schools and colleges have switched over to online teaching as the state government declared holidays.
