Char Dham Yatra Halted As Red Alert Issued For Heavy Rains Across Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand state government has stopped pilgrims on the Char Dham Yatra route due to heavy rains at several places. The authorities have halted the pilgrims at various points, advising them not to move further till the weather situation improves. The weather department has issued a red alert warning and predicted heavy rains at many places over the next two days. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also appealed to people to postpone their plans. According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected on October 18 & 19 at several places. Incessant rains have battered many places including Dehradun since October 17 morning. Schools and other educational institutions remained shut on October 18. All trekking/camping, mountaineering groups have been barred from entering into all the forest areas of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, Gopeshwar from October 17 to 19. Watch the video to know more.
