Boycott Chinese Goods Says CAIT, Ban Their Food Says Ramdas Athawale As Anti-China Protests Spike

A call to boycott Chinese goods has started after the face-off at Ladakh's Galwan Valley between Indian & Chinese troops, in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed. The all-India traders' body, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called for a boycott. CAIT also appealed to celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Mahender Singh Dhoni & Sachin Tendulkar, to stop endorsing Chinese products under its "Bhartiya Saaman - Hamara Abhiman" campaign. Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has asked people to stop eating Chinese food as anger rises against the neighbouring country. Protests with calls to boycott Chinese products erupted across India after the violent clash. This the first time fatalities have been reported in face-off with China since four Assam Rifles personnel were killed on the Indian side of the border in Arunachal Pradesh in 1975. India has blamed the clashes on "an attempt by the Chinese troops to unilaterally change the status quo there", rebutting China's claims that Indian troops crossed the border.
