A political row broke out in Bihar on March 23 after cops thrashed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislators inside the state assembly premises. Reportedly, clashes broke out when the Opposition MLAs were trying to hold Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha hostage inside his chamber. Several Opposition legislators, including RJD MLA Sudhakar Singh & CPM legislator Satyendra Yadav were injured in this incident. Visuals of the incident have now gone viral on social media. Bone of contention, which led to clashes between Opposition legislators and the police, was the new bill that was tabled by the Nitish Kumar government on March 23 relating to empowering Bihar Military Police (BMP). The incident has triggered a political row with the RJD claiming that the Nitish Kumar government’s days were now numbered. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also condemned the violence. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also slammed the NDA government for ‘unprovoked’ lathicharge on its workers during a protest against graft and unemployment in Patna. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s official Twitter handle compared Nitish Kumar with Hitler.
