Eid-al-Adha, also known as Eid-Ul-Azha or Bakri eid, is one of the two major festivals of the Muslim community. Bakri Eid or Eid-al-Adha will be celebrated in India on August 1. On the occasion of Eid-al-Adha, financially-stable Muslims must sacrifice a bovine or cattle or camel or goat, and distribute its meat among relatives and poor people says Islam. On Bakri Eid, an array of dishes are prepared with some of the popular ones being mutton biriyani, chapli kebab, mutton paya, mutton korma, bhuna gosht, Haleem, galauti kebabs and a lot more. Some of the sweets prepared are shahi tukda, firni, kheer and sevai. In view of the coronavirus pandemic, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray urged all to celebrate the festival in a simple and if possible "symbolic" manner.
