Assam Boat Accident: One Dead As Two Boats Collide In Brahmaputra Near Jorhat, Many Missing

On September 8, two passenger vessels collided with each other in the Brahmaputra River in Jorhat, Assam. In the tragic incident, a woman lost her life. Nearly 30 people are missing as per latest reports. Reportedly, around 200 people were onboard the vessels when they crashed into each other at Nimati Ghat in Jorhat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Saddened by the boat accident in Assam. All possible efforts are being made to rescue the passengers.” State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force officials reached the spot for rescue operations. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said 42 people have been rescued till now. President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, “My thoughts go out to the victims, survivors and their families.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “Let's hope the rescue operation manages to save lives in the next few hours.” Watch the video to know more.
