Opposition leaders slammed PM Narendra Modi led central government over Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest. Opposition claimed that BJP is scared of defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Kejriwal was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in an excise policy-linked money-laundering matter. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that BJP is scared of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “A scared dictator wants to create a dead democracy.” In a post on X, NCP leader Sharad Pawar condemned the "vindictive misuse of central agencies to target the opposition, especially as general elections loom.” Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien asked, “How can we expect fair elections in India if sitting CMs & prominent opposition leaders are arrested weeks before polls?” CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said that clearly, Modi and the BJP are in panic over people's rejection in the ongoing elections.
