Andrew Cuomo, New York Governor Resigns After Being Hit By 11 Sexual Harassment Claims

Andrew Cuomo, New York’s Democratic governor announced on August 10 that he was resigning. This comes after days of defying growing calls for him to step aside over allegations of sexual harassment by 11 women. “New York tough means New York loving. And I love New York,” Cuomo said. He said that the best way for him to serve New York was to step aside. Kathy Hochul, a 62-year-old Democrat, will take over from Cuomo. The former member of the US Congress will become the state’s first woman governor. Cuomo has said that he did not mean to touch the women inappropriately. He said he was sorry if anyone felt offended. The New York state assembly called for an impeachment inquiry against Andrew Cuomo amid growing calls for his resignation, including from US President Joe Biden, Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer & House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
