On October 19, Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, announced that he will form a new political party. Singh said that if the farmers' protest gets resolved, he will consider a seat arrangement with the BJP and breakaway Akali groups. This comes ahead of next year's assembly elections in the state. Singh had put to rest rumours of him joining the BJP last month when he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Singh had said they had met just to discuss the farmer issues. On October 19, in a series of tweets, Amarinder Singh’s media advisor Raveen Thukral quoted him as saying, “Will soon announce the launch of my own political party.” Watch the video to know more.
