Powerful blasts followed by gunfire hit Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on August 3 not far from the heavily fortified Green Zone. Four people were killed and at least 20 injured in an attack targeting the Afghan Defence minister and many lawmakers in the country's capital, reported AFP. No one has yet claimed the attack, however, Washington pointed the finger at the Taliban.

Violence has swelled across the country since early May. Taliban launched a nationwide offensive immediately after the US-led foreign forces began their withdrawal. Interior ministry said the attack had been successfully repelled and the attackers had been killed.

Even as the blasts & gunfire rocked the city, crowds of people walked down Kabul's streets. Some took to their rooftops chanting "Allahu Akbar" (God is the greatest) and "Death to the Taliban".
