After the fall of Mitchell Marsh, Australian batters Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc have resisted India from making India any further inroads. Starc showcased defiance in the first innings as well, staying in the middle for over 100 balls. With tea nearing, India, too, have experimented with their bowlers.

Unlike other days in the Tests, Australian batters have started to play aggressive cricket. Both Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh are looking to charge the Indian bowlers, in particular, Harshit Rana, who has been a bit wayward. Head is also nearing his eighth Test ton.

Back for the post-lunch session on Day 4, where India will look to wrap up the Test and head into the day/night encounter 1-0 up. Meanwhile, India's Test and ODI skipper Rohit Sharma during the break was seen in the nets practicing against the pink-ball. The second Test at Adelaide starts December 6.

LUNCH! As players go off the field with Team India in complete control of the Test. Steve Smith and Travis Head did manage to snitch a 62-run stand and showcase some defiance, but Indian bowlers kept on applying pressure. Mohammed Siraj has been the stand-out bowler for India this morning and has not missed his beat once during both his spells.

Steve Smith and Travis Head have managed to weather the storm, and have added 31 runs in 70 balls. Washington Sundar is getting purchase from the wicket, which moving forward will make things difficult for Australian batters.

When Australia thought they would dominate the match from here, they were rattled by India's pace bowling attack in their first innings. The host was all out for a mere 104 runs. Captain Bumrah bagged a five-wicket haul, whereas debutant pacer Harshit Rana took three scalps for Team India.

In India's second innings, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul shared a double-hundred stand, which provided a perfect start for the visitors. Rahul played a fighting knock of 77 off 176 balls, including five fours. Jaiswal showcased his class with the bat as the youngster slammed 161 off 297 with the help of 18 boundaries.

Veteran cricketer Virat Kohli hammered his 81st international century and remained unbeaten on 100 off 143 balls as India declared at 487-6. The Asian Giants posted a huge target of 534 runs. While chasing, Australia crumbled to 12/3 in 4.2 overs after stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah took wickets and Mohammed Siraj bagged one wicket before stumps on Day 3.
