New Delhi, October 2: Google is reportedly working on a new feature for its YouTube TV app that could allow users to listen to content without having to watch the screen. The background playback feature will let its users to continue enjoying audio from YouTube TV, even when the app is not actively open. The update is expected to enhance user experience for users who prefer multitasking.

As per a report of The Verge, Google appears to be working on a background playback feature for its YouTube TV streaming service. The background playback feature is common in YouTube’s premium service but has not been a part of YouTube TV until now. As per a report of 9to5Google, YouTube TV has started slowly rolling out background play on Android and iOS. However, Allison Toh, product communications manager at YouTube, has reportedly stated that the company is actively working on adding the background playback feature to YouTube TV. This means that users may soon be able to listen to their shows or content while using other apps.
