Xiaomi Redmi Y2 smartphone Launched at Rs 9,999; MIUI 10 Introduced in India

Xiaomi smartphones are currently one of the most selling handsets in India. Earlier today, Xiaomi India launched the new smartphone Redmi Y2 with prices starting from Rs. 9,999. Offered in two variants, the former gets 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage whereas the latter sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is priced at Rs. 12,999. The company will initiate the sale of the newly launched Redmi Y2 via Amazon and MI official website on June 12. The smartphone comes in three colour variants in India - Dark Grey, Rose Gold, and Gold.

Coming to the specifications, Redmi Y2 sports a 5.99-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with an Adreno 506 GPU. Talking about the camera, the smartphone is equipped with a dual lens setup (12MP + 5MP) enhanced with AI-based capabilities. At the front, the smartphone gets a 16MP selfie shooter which features a LED selfie-light, AI Beautify 4.0 and Face Unlock capabilities. As mentioned earlier, the phone comes in two storage variants 32GB & 64GB both have a dedicated card slot. The smartphone packs a 3080mAh battery which company claims to last for an entire day. With the launch of Redmi Y2, Xiaomi also confirmed that MIUI 10 will be rolled out in India by mid of this month. It is the latest version of the user interface based on Android OS that the company has to offer. The latest version of MIUI emphasizes on four key parts – Speed, Design, Sound and AI Portraits. The new user interface will have features like Progressive Web Apps, Digital payments and more.
