After numerous rumours and teasers, Xiaomi has finally unveiled the new Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones in China at an event in Beijing. The new Note 8 Series from Xiaomi comprises of two smartphones - Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. It is speculated that the Chinese phone brand could launch more smartphones under the series in next few months. The newly launched Redmi Note 8 smartphone comes with a gradient design with subtle upgrades compared to its predecessor. It now comes with more powerful chipset, quad rear cameras, bezel-less design, audio enhancements and much more. On the other hand, Redmi Note 8 Pro gets redesigned body with hardware upgrades compared to Note 7 Pro apart from 64MP rear snapper.
As far as the prices are concerned, the new Redmi Note 8 is priced at CNY 999 which is around Rs 10,000 for the entry-level variant - 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The mid variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal memory is priced at CNY 1,199 (around Rs 12,000) whereas the top-end model with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage costs Rs 1,399 (approximately Rs 14,000). The Redmi Note 8 smartphone will go on sale on September 17. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 8 gets a starting price of Rs CNY 1,399 (around Rs 14,000) for the base variant - 4GB RAM + 64GB internal space. The bigger variants - 6GB RAM and 128GB & 8GB RAM and 128GB internal memory costs CNY 1,599 (around Rs 16,000) and CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs 18,000) respectively. The device will go on sale starting September 3.
Apart from these smartphones, the Chinese phone maker has also introduced a World of Warcraft limited edition which comes with exclusive goodies, custom themes and much more.
On the specification front, the Redmi Note 8 gets a 6.39-inch FHD+ display screen with 1080x2340 pixels of resolution, which is also seen on Redmi K20. The panel offers 90 percent screen-to-body ratio along with aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The phone gets a waterdrop-style notch at the front, which is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset that is mated with up to 6GB of RAM. For photography, the Redmi Note 8 sports quad rear module featuring a 48MP primary sensor with an 8MP wide-angle shooter and two 2MP sensors. The front camera is a 13MP shooter for selfies and video calling. The phone is backed by a 4000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging technology.
Redmi Note 8 Pro, on the other hand, is equipped with slightly bigger display of 6.53-inch FHD+ display screen with aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and resolution of 1080x2340 pixels. The smartphone also gets Gorilla Glass 5 protection and waterdrop-style notch as seen on the Redmi Note 8. Under the hood, the phone draw its power from MediaTek Helio G90T chipset that is clubbed with up to 8GB of RAM. The phone maker has also added liquid cooling technology on the smartphone for enhancing the gaming experience for the users.
In the camera department, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also comes with quad cameras at the rear, however, the module is slightly different than Note 8. The pro derivative is Redmi's first device to pack a 64MP primary camera. It also gets an 8MP wide-angle shooter along with two 2MP sensors. At the front, there is a 20MP selfie camera on board. The phone is backed by a massive battery of 4,500 mAh along with 18W fast charging. Both the devices run on MIUI 10, based on Android 9 Pie.
