Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer on Tuesday officially launched the new Mi Mix Alpha 5G concept at an event. With the new Mi Mix Alpha 5G phone, the Chinese phone maker aims to push the boundaries with its flexible screen. We already know that the company is working on a foldable device, but the Mi Mix Alpha gets a flexible display offering Surround Display experience with no bezels on either side and minimum bezels on the top as well as bottom. The newly unveiled Mi Mix Alpha from Xiaomi is definitely a revolutionary product that has matured over the generations with Mi Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2S. Opting for the unique and futuristic lane, the Mi Mix Alpha display wraps around the phone to cover the entire body barring a stripe on the back, which houses the camera module. The company claims that it will employ sensors and AI algorithms for detecting the side of the phone which the users are looking at and it would light up to show content. Moreover, the phone does not feature any physical buttons on the sides.
On the specification front, the newly unveiled concept smartphone is Xiaomi's first flagship device that comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. Additionally, the phone is backed by a 4050 mAh battery with 40W Turbo Charging. Moreover, the phone is also comes with 5G compatibility. It is important to note that the phone is Xiaomi's first handset to feature a 108MP Samsung sensor. The phone sports a 7.92-inch flexible OLED screen with resolution of 2088x2250 pixels. Moreover, the device runs on Xiaomi's custom MIUI Alpha OS.

Coming to the camera department, the smartphone features a triple camera module at the back comprising of a 108MP primary sensor from Samsung along with 20MP wide angle lens and a 12MP camera for portraits. As the fact that Mi Mix Alpha is a concept, we won't be seeing the smartphone in the market soon. However, the prototype smartphones will be available at Mi Stores in China wherein the customers can experience the same. If launched, the smartphone could be introduced in limited numbers with a hefty price point of around CNY 19,999 (around Rs 2 lakh or $2,812).
Xiaomi said in a statement that, “To accommodate the nearly all-screen offering, Mi Mix Alpha has minimal bezels on the top and bottom, and ditches the physical side buttons altogether. A brand-new display acoustic technology replaces the traditional earpiece receiver and proximity sensor while the device's sides are pressure-sensitive and leverage a linear motor to simulate the touch of real buttons.”
