Xiaomi Launches Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro in India: Price, Specifications and More

New Delhi, February 14: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi on Wednesday unveiled its most anticipated smartphone- Redmi Note 5 at an event in New Delhi. Xiaomi also introduced a step up variant to the Redmi Note 5 in the form of Redmi Note 5 Pro. The company’s head Manu Kumar Jain and product manager Jai Mani took over the stage to launch the most awaited smartphones in India.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 price in India starts at Rs 9,999 for the variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5 Pro price in India will start at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM variant and Rs 16,999 for the 6GB RAM model.
Xiaomi announced Face Unlock feature for the Redmi Note 5 Pro users in India. The Face Unlock feature will be available through an over-the-air update to be announced soon. Xiaomi has embedded Beautify 4.0 on both the front and the rear camera of the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
For the first time ever for any Xiaomi phone in India, the newly launched smartphone will be shipped with a free ultra slim case, within the box. Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter and informed that the Redmi Note 5 Pro marks the Global debut of Qualcomm Snapdragon 636. Talking about the popular Redmi Note 4, Jain said that it was the number one selling smartphone in 2017. “We shipped more than 9.6 Mn units of Redmi Note 4 within a year! Time to launch the phone that will beat Redmi Note 4”, he said.
The newly launched Redmi Note 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0GHz and sports a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with a 2160x1080p pixel resolution. The smartphone boasts of a attractive, appealing design. The Redmi Note 5 battery capacity is 4000mAh battery, and it is half a millimetre thinner than last year's model. With appealing features like these, Redmi Note 5 will have to live up to a lot because of the success its predecessor enjoyed.
Xiaomi also announced the Mi TV for the first time in India. The company claims the Mi TV will be thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S8. As per Xiaomi, it is also the world's slimmest LED TV ever. Xiaomi has introduced PatchWall with the Mi TV 4 as its own UI that will also offer features like Universal Search and more. The company has partnered with Hotstar, Voot, Sony Liv, Hungama Play, Zee5, Sun Next, Alt Balaji, Viu, TVF and Flickstree for the Mi TV 4 to provide 500,000 hours of content. Xiaomi claims that 80 percent of this content will be completely free.
