Mumbai, May 17: OpenAI recently unveiled its powerful new GPT-4o AI model, which showed the capability of generating any combination of text, audio and image outputs. Sam Altman-run OpenAI rolled it GPT-4o free for all the ChatGPT users. GPT-4o was launched on May 13, 2024. However, CEO Sam Altman later praised Prafulla Dhariwal for his contribution to the GPT-4o model and other team members who made it possible to bring revolution.

Prafulla Dhariwal, Head of Omni at OpenAI, posted on Elon Musk's X platform highlighting the AI model GPT-4o and all the team members' contribution towards it. He said, "This launch was a huge org-wide effort, but I'd like to shout out to a few of my awesome team members who made this magical model even possible!" Prafulla Dhariwal said the "o" in the new GPT-4o model stood for "Omni". OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Praising Prafulla Dhariwal and Team: 

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman replied to his post of Prafulla Dhariwal and said, "GPT-4o would not have happened without the vision, talent, conviction, and determination of @prafdhar over a long period of time." He further praised all the other team members who led to the creation of OpenAI GPT-4o. 

Who is Prafulla Dhariwal?

Prafulla Dhariwal's official X account's bio says he is the Head of Omni team at OpenAI and has co-created GPT-3, DALL-E 3, Jukebox Glow and PPO. According to his personal website, he holds a Bachelor's degree from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). His website says that he has been working as a research scientist at OpenAI on generative models and unsupervised learning. Prafulla Dhariwal is from Pune but now living in San Francisco. According to a report by the Times of India, he won a gold medal at the International Astronomy Olympiad in China and other gold models at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2012 and the International Physics Olympiad in 2013.
