Mumbai, May 1: WhatsApp will soon block users from chatting if they violate its certain terms of service. The Meta-owned platform has been developing an 'Account Restriction' feature that is set to be rolled out in future updates. Since it is in development, it is not ready for beta testers. WhatsApp introduced many features that allow users to protect their privacy and enhance their experience while using the app.

The new WhatsApp feature will temporarily block users from sending messages due to specific violations. When blocked, WhatsApp users will not be able to start new chats for a limited period. However, the WhatsApp restriction is not a permanent ban, it's a temporary measure until the account gets reinstated. This WhatsApp account restriction would be considered a penalty for violating specific terms and conditions. According to the report by India Today, WhatsApp Beta said that the update will affect the ability to start new chats with anyone. However, users can still receive and respond to the messages within individual chats or groups. Telegram New Feature Update: Encrypted Messaging Platform Introduces Birthday Alerts, Ad Revenue Sharing and Exclusive Premium Benefits; Check Details.

The report highlighted that the new WhatsApp account restriction feature would not affect communication and keep it intact. Additionally, it said that WhatsApp could detect different types of abuse on the platform using its automated tools, such as bulk messaging, spam-like behaviour and actions that violate the WhatsApp policy. The report highlighted that these automated tools would operate independently and maintain the platform's end-to-end encryption. It will not rely on the behavioural pattern of the individual accounts to find and flag based on its suspicious activities. Microsoft To Build New Cloud and AI Infrastructure in Thailand and Provide Artificial Intelligence Skilling Opportunities to Over 1 Lakh People; Check Details.

According to the official post by the WhatsApp Beta, the upcoming account restriction feature on WhatsApp is not just a measure of control, but a balanced alternative to outright bans. The post emphasizes that the goal of the WhatsApp's account restriction feature is to promote responsible use of the messaging platform, ensuring everyone can connect without being subjected to spams, abuse, or any disruptive activities towards others. This feature is designed to offer more flexibility to the users , reassuring them about their privacy and safety, instead of resorting to the extreme measure of completely banning their accounts.
