WhatsApp Bug Allow Hackers to Modify & Send Fake Messages to Others By Your Name

CheckPoint Research has reported that WhatsApp is very much vulnerable and hackers can easily modify and send fake messages to other impersonating as you.

The researchers at CheckPoint Research, an Israeli cyber security firm has recently learnt about a new WhatsApp flaw which allows the hackers to infiltrate and send messages on the instant messaging platform. With this new bug, the hackers can not only modify the messages but also can send it across on group chats as well as private chats. The firm also highlighted that combining with the existing flaws and glitches, the vulnerability of the platform gives a hacker the possibility to impersonate as you for sending messages in group or private conversation. Further warning about the security, the firm stated that this vulnerability of the social media platform could result in creating or spreading misinformation.

Moreover, the platform is also facing hard time with the increasing scrutiny for the means of spreading fake news because of its popularity and convenience for forwarding messages. The Facebook-owned company has now introduced forward message limit to 5 chats at a time after continuous lynching incidences reported across the country. Moreover, the Indian government also urged the company to take necessary measure for controlling the spread of fake news in the country. WhatsApp said in a statement: "We carefully reviewed this issue and it's the equivalent of altering an email to make it look like something a person never wrote. This claim has nothing to do with the security of end-to-end encryption, which ensures only the sender and recipient can read messages sent on WhatsApp." As a reminder, WhatsApp was launched in the year 2009 which was later purchased by Mark Zuckerberg led Facebook in 2014.
