New Delhi, August 3: Are you seeing an 11-digit toll free number saved in the name of 'UIDAI' in your contact list by default? It's a resulted of "vested interest", said the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Friday, clarifying that 1800-300-1947 was taken off as the Aadhaar helpline number two years ago. The UIDAI clarification came after users complained of the number being saved in their contact list under UIDAI's name by default.
After phone security concerns were raised, the UIDAI in its statement said, "In the wake of some media reports on default inclusion of UIDAI’s outdated & invalid Toll free no. 1800-300-1947 in contact list of Android phones, it is clarified that, UIDAI has not asked or communicated to any manufacturer or service provider for providing any such facility whatsoever."
