Lora DiCarlo, a sex toy company was scheduled to showcase its first ever product at CES 2019 or Consumer Electronics Show 2019 along with a plaque for winning one of the Innovation awards at the trade show for Osé Robotic Massager. However, it never happened as show organisers not only revoked company's ability to exhibit at the event but also took away the prestigious award by giving some ridiculous reasons. This product - Osé Robotic Massager is designed for women and the company is founded, exclusively run by women. According to company’s founder - Lora Haddock, Osé Robotic Massager that is Lora DiCarlo's first product won “honoree” designation in the robotics and drones category of the CES Innovation Awards. CES 2019: New Interpreter Mode On Google Assistance Will Support Around 27 Languages.

To be determined by an independent panel, these awards are awarded to products that get a high enough score for becoming an honoree. Though the product won the designation and ranked high enough, the exhibitor was told that its product failed comply with the rules.

Moreover, show organisers and Consumer Technology Association alleged that this product is obscene, indecent and immoral. Thus keeping in view CTA's image, the organisers decided to disqualify the product. However, the organisers later backtracked and mentioned the product didn't fit in any category, be it robotics or drones.

CTA spokesperson Sarah Brown said in an email that the award was revoked because “the product does not fit into any of our existing product categories and should not have been accepted for the Innovation Awards Program.” Brown also told TechCrunch that the company isn’t allowed to exhibit “because they don’t fit a product category.” We’ve asked for clarification on why other sex tech companies are allowed to exhibit, but haven’t received a response. This controversy is definitely absurd for the fact that we have seen several sex toys and sex tech regularly at the trade show in the past. In the year 2016, a company showcased an oral sex simulating device while OhMiBod has been showcasing sex toys for years.
